Energy Ombudsman
ScottishPower is a member of the Energy Ombudsman, which is an independent body that resolves billing, transfers and sales related issues between customers and their energy suppliers.
The Energy Ombudsman offers a free and independent service. ScottishPower are bound to comply with the outcome.
If we can’t reach an agreement with you, the Energy Ombudsman may investigate your complaint if:
- You receive a final ‘deadlock’ letter from ScottishPower, which will clearly show our final position in relation to your complaint. You can then refer the complaint to Energy Ombudsman within six months of receiving the deadlock letter.
- You have not received a deadlock letter, but at least 8 weeks have passed since you first made the complaint to us. You must refer your complaint to the Energy Ombudsman within 9 months of first making your complaint to us.
- You are a business customer who:
- Has an annual consumption up to 55,000 kwh for electricity, 200,000 for gas, or
- Has up to, and including, 10 FTE, or
- Has an annual turnover of up to 2 million Euros
