Clean Energy Cashback
The Clean Energy Cashback Scheme (Feed in Tariffs) changes at midnight on 11th December.
On 31 October, the Government announced proposed changes to the FITs Scheme for small scale low-carbon electricity generation. These proposals could have an effect on the rate of FITs payments you will receive if you install solar PV. To find out more information just follow this link to find out how this may affect you.
If you have any issues regarding this announcement, the Department of Energy and Climate Change have published a guide which should help establish who you need to contact to resolve your issue. Just follow this link to download this guide.
If you need to register a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) application prior to the tariff changes, your completed application form together with all supporting documentation must be received by ScottishPower before midnight on 11th December at:
Clean Energy Cashback
ScottishPower

Only paper copies are acceptable and these must be accompanied by your complete and valid Microgeneration Certification Scheme (“MCS”) certificate. Applications received after the deadline will not qualify for the current rate even if posted before. You may wish to consider using a guaranteed delivery service to avoid this situation and provide proof of delivery.
Clean Energy Cashback Scheme (Feed In Tariffs)
From 1st April 2010, if you generate your own electricity through a renewable technology, you may be eligible for the Clean Energy Cashback scheme (Feed In Tariffs). Earn rewards for generating your own electricity via renewable sources not just in the present, but for the next 20 to 25 years. From 1st April 2010, generators using renewable technologies will be eligible to be paid for each unit of electricity they generate, and for each unit of excess electricity which they export back to the grid.
How FIT Works
Customers who generate their own electricity through an accredited renewable low carbon technology are eligible to receive payment for every unit of electricity they generate. In addition where the customer produces more electricity than they use, and export the excess back to the grid, they will be eligible to be paid for each unit exported.
FIT payments will only be made from the system commissioning date and reading, if we receive your completed application within 5 working days of this date.
How Do I Benefit?
As a ScottishPower customer you may benefit in a variety of different ways:
- Generation Tariff – A set rate will be paid by your supplier for each unit (or kWh) generated.
- Export Tariff – For each unit of electricity generated that you don’t use and export back to the grid you will receive a further 3p/kWh from your energy supplier. Unlike the generation tariff the export rate is constant across all technology types.
- Energy Bill Savings – Since you will be generating your own electricity you may not need to buy as much from your supplier. Savings will be dependent on how much electricity you use on site.
How Much Can I Earn?
Customers will be paid in accordance with their chosen technology type, in line with published tariff rates. For a full payment breakdown please click here (This link opens in a new window).
