The ScottishPower Green Energy Trust is an independent charity which helps community-based renewable energy projects get off the ground. Funded entirely by donations from our Green Energy Fund customers, the Trust has awarded almost £1.5 million to more than 128 projects since it was first established 13 years ago.
All kinds of projects are considered, from solar panels for sheltered housing to wind turbines for schools, but all must have a strong community benefit as well as a wider educational element.
The trust will award up to 50% of the renewable energy element of the project (subject to a maximum award of £25,000). The maximum award - for truly exceptional projects – is £25,000, with most successful applications receiving around £10,000.
If you’re currently involved in a community-based renewable energy project and would like to know more about the potential funding available, visit the Green Energy Trust website. Here you’ll find everything you need to know about eligibility criteria, as well as how and when to apply. Good luck!
