Privacy Policy
Introduction
At ScottishPower, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy sets out how your personal information will be treated as a result of your using this website. The policy may be updated periodically so please review it from time to time.
How we collect information about you
Its pretty self- explanatory but when you register your details at this site or input any other information, for example, to set up a payment plan, ScottishPower is collecting personal information. We only ask you for what we need for a specific purpose and we will not use the information for any unconnected purpose.
How we use your information
We use the information you provide on this site for the purposes of controlling access to the site and for the purpose of offering you solutions which will help you to make payment in a way that is convenient for you. You will be asked to enter your contact number or email address when setting up a repayment plan to enable us to send payment reminders. We may also retain this information and use it as described in our terms and conditions of supply.
The information you provide is submitted to a ScottishPower hosted website in the UK. The details of any payment arrangements made through this site, for example, the amount and date of a payment, will be transferred to a United States-based third party service provider, Collections Marketing Center Inc. (CMC), who will help us maintain details of your payment plan. If you opt for us to retain your card details for your convenience, these will be encrypted and stored in a secure database in the UK. Only the last 4 digits will be accessible on the website to confirm the card number we have stored.
CMC
We contractually require CMC to have stringent data protection controls in place and we have clearly set out the standards of data protection required. We also conducted a risk assessment on CMC before entering into an agreement with them. The security of your personal details are of paramount importance to us.
CMC adhere to the Safe Harbor Principles of data protection established by the U.S. Department of Commerce and approved by the European Commission. For more information about Safe Harbor, please refer to http://www.export.gov/safeHarbor/.
More information which sets out how we use your information generally (as opposed to just information submitted through this website) can be found in clause 19 of our terms and conditions.
