SME Principal terms
Under our supply licences issued by Ofgem we must give you the following summarised
principal terms of our mains gas and/or electricity contract:
• Our charges for the supply of gas and/or electricity are those advised by us to you on the summary page
• As a reasonable company, ScottishPower uses credit reference agencies to help make decisions
about providing services and credit. We can ask for a reasonable security deposit before or during
the period of the contract. If we ask for a security deposit before the start of the supply of gas
and/or electricity, we may decide not to begin the supply until the security is paid.
• If you are a director of the limited company, which is to be our customer, you, as well as the
customer, may be liable to pay any amounts due by the customer under the contract. We may also
require you to provide a personal guarantee for the equivalent of the business’ previous quarter’s
electricity usage.
• You can terminate the gas and/or electricity contract by giving a written notice of termination not
more than 90 days and not less than 30 days before the Earliest Termination Date. In the event
the notice of termination is not received in time we will remain as your supplier.
• You can choose, by giving a written notice not less than 30 days before the Earliest Termination
Date not to continue the contract for a further fixed price period. You should however be aware
that your business will be charged higher alternative rates.
Please note that by entering into a contract with ScottishPower today you will not be
able to enter into a contract afterwards with your existing supplier, or any other supplier, despite
what they may say, until your earliest termination date.
