This is the basic cost of the energy itself. We purchase energy in advance to make sure it’s there when you need it. Buying energy in advance also helps us to smooth out what you pay, as wholesale costs can change a lot from day to day.

This is the cost of getting the energy to your home through the UK’s network of wires and pipes. For every unit of energy you use, we pay a fee to the company that owns the pipes or wires that connect to your home. These fees are agreed with the industry regulator, Ofgem, and are effectively a ‘delivery charge’ for your energy. Fees vary from area to area, but every energy company pays the same in each area.
