CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme
The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (formally known as the Carbon Reduction Commitment) is a mandatory carbon emissions trading scheme.
It has been designed to improve energy efficiency and reduce the CO2 emissions of large organisations in both the public and private sector. The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme forms a key part of the Government strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by the year 2050.
Whether you qualify for the scheme is dependent on your organisation having electricity supplied through at least one half-hourly meter (HHM) that is settled on the half-hourly (HH) market, and the level of consumption through these meters during 2008. Take a look at our CRC chart to check whether you qualify.
If you are a full participant, following registration you will be required to accurately record and report all your CO2 emissions and purchase allowances for them. Additionally, your organisation will appear in an annually published league table showing your performance compared with other organisations.
At ScottishPower, we are committed to trying to provide you with the consumption data you require for your CRC reporting. If you are an existing ScottishPower customer and have any further questions or concerns about the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme and how it affects your business, please email our CRC Helpdesk.
