If I switch to ScottishPower how does the transfer process work?

As soon as your application is accepted, we'll begin the registration process. This can take 4 to 6 weeks and is usually made up of four stages:

  • Application: We review your application and check it against the information we receive from your current supplier
  • Registration: We send a request to your current supplier, so that we can start the transfer process.
  • Billing Set-up: We'll ask you for your Opening Meter Readings so we can set up your new account with us.
  • On Supply: Once your account has been set up, we'll officially welcome you as a new ScottishPower customer.

If for any reason there is an issue with your transfer we will let you know as soon as possible.

My current supplier has blocked my transfer to ScottishPower. What should I do?

Ask them to explain the reason for their objection and contact us with the details - call the Business Energy Team on 0800 040 7002 (Monday to Friday 8am - 7pm, Saturday 8:30am - 1pm).

Do you carry out credit checks on Small Business customers?

Occasionally, yes. We may use the results to offer our customers alternative products and services or payment arrangements.

Can ScottishPower stop me transferring to another supplier?

This will depend on the circumstances and terms of your contract with us. If you don't terminate your contract on time or you have an outstanding balance with us, we may stop the transfer. Once you've paid your debt in full, we'll allow you to transfer to another supplier.
