Powering the next generation of Scottish business

On Thursday evening, ScottishPower, in association with Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, hosted a digital business event at 200 St Vincent Street.

With key speaker Chris van der Kuyl, leading Scottish digital entrepreneur and one of the UK’s most successful video games producers, we led a discussion aimed at identifying the current and future technological challenges faced by both big and small businesses.

With over 120 business delegates in attendance David Lee, business expert and media consultant, opened the event by talking about how the digital landscape is constantly changing and that businesses need to be doing their utmost to keep up. Neil Clitheroe then took to the stage to describe how ScottishPower are using digitalisation to create innovative solutions for a more personalised customer experience.

Cally Russell, CEO and founder of online shopping app Mallzee and recently named on the prestigious Forbes 30 under 30 list for Europe, helped bring the discussion to life and shared his tips on achieving business success including having confidence in your own abilities and not being afraid to ask questions.

Our key speaker, Chris van der Kuyl then inspired and motivated the audience by sharing his thoughts on the future of digital. He talked about how “technology is accelerating every day, week and month to an extent that’s pretty mind blowing” and that “the next ten years are vital for digital”. He believes that “this should be on the mind of every business and entrepreneur – because there will be no area of life that will not be impacted”.
