Cheshire’s top businesses set for 2017 awards ceremony

This year’s Cheshire Business of the Year Awards ceremony is taking place at Chester Cathedral on Friday 6 October, and once again, we’ll be sponsoring the Business of the Year (up to 10 employees) Award which recognises the incredible enterprise, innovation and achievements of businesses in the region.

Last year’s award was scooped by talented jewellery designer, Lucy Quartermaine, who runs her business in Chester and has gained international attention as a result of her quirky and beautifully crafted designs. Following an early fascination with design, Lucy uses inspiration from everyday life, items and experiences around her to create her collections which have featured in the glossy pages of high-fashion magazine titles including Vogue, and have been worn by A-list celebrities in the UK and in America.

Lucy Quartermaine immediately stood out as a worthy winner in 2016 and won our vote as a result of her perseverance and persistence in establishing her own jewellery business whilst studying at Sheffield University and working as a full time mum. The incredible success of her signature Drip Collection attracted international attention and won a highly acclaimed industry award for originality in design, which Lucy notes as a turning point for the brand.

Jo Heraghty, Senior Manager, SME Marketing at ScottishPower, said: "Lucy’s business ethic and talent was so impressive and this gave her business the edge in a line-up of many inspiring and successful businesses in Cheshire.

"We’ve had a fantastic range of businesses apply for the award this year, all of whom are leading the way when it comes to enterprise and innovation. We wish all of the businesses shortlisted the best of luck and are extremely excited to reveal this year’s winner.

The finalists for this year’s Business of the Year (up to 10 employees) are:

  • No Brainer
  • Lucy Quartermaine
  • Businesscomparison.com
  • Rhino Safety Ltd
