Accessibility Statement
ScottishPower is committed to making its website accessible to as many people as possible, including those with disabilities. This accessibility statement applies to www.scottishpower.co.uk.
What we're doing to improve accessibility
We are actively working to improve the accessibility of our website and services. Here’s what we’re doing now:
Increasing the frequency and depth of accessibility checks to find and fix issues quickly.
Testing with real users, including people with different accessibility needs, to make sure our designs work for everyone.
Training more colleagues to help us communicate clearly and make content easier to understand.
Updating our design system and components so they meet accessibility standards from the start.
Working closely with our internal accessibility team to raise awareness, share best practice, and embed accessibility into our culture.
Accessibility is an ongoing journey, and we’re committed to continuous improvement.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA. This means that while many parts of the site meet accessibility standards, some areas may not yet be fully accessible.
Areas that are not fully accessible
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible, including:
Low contrast text, which can make reading difficult for people with visual impairments.
Links that don’t clearly describe their purpose (e.g., “Click here”).
Some interactive elements, like FAQs and menus, that aren’t fully accessible by keyboard.
Missing language attributes on some pages, which can affect screen readers.
Navigation menus and breadcrumbs that vary across pages.
No “Skip to main content” link for keyboard users.
Poor visibility of keyboard focus indicators.
Images and buttons missing alternative text.
We’re actively working to fix these issues.
How to contact us
Priority Services Register
As your energy supplier, we want to make sure you can contact us in a way that works for you.
The easiest way to tell us about any issues that make it harder for you to contact us is by signing up to our Priority Services Register (PSR). This helps us give extra support to customers who have a disability, chronic illness, or are of pensionable age.
To sign up:
- Log in to your online account, go to ‘Help and Advice’, and choose ‘Priority Services Register’ from the drop-down menu.
- Or call us on 0345 270 0700, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
If you’re blind or sight-impaired
We can provide your bills and other communications in different formats, such as Braille, Audio CD, or large print. You can let us know you want to receive your communications in one of these formats when you sign up to the Priority Services Register, or you can contact us using one of the options below.
Support for hearing or speech
- British Sign Language: We can offer a three-way call using British Sign Language through CONVO. Before you call us for the first time, you’ll need to complete CONVO’s sign-up form. Once you’ve done that, you can call us using their app or website by choosing ScottishPower Customer Business from their list of organisations.
- Relay UK helps deaf, speech-impaired, and hearing people talk to each other over the phone using the relay service. You can use the Relay UK app in your mobile, tablet, or PC, or you can use it with your Minicom or Uniphone. You can find more information on how to use Relay UK at their website.
If you require translation services
If English isn’t your first language, we can provide translation services through Language Line to help you discuss your energy account. Language Line have been supporting organisations across the UK for more than 30 years, and their interpreters cover 170 different languages. We’ll hold a three-way call with you and one of Language Line’s professional interpreters to discuss any queries you may have about your energy account.
