Our Solar Saver tariff is designed for customers who have a Solar PV system supplying electricity to their home. It provides cheaper rates for using electricity during off-peak hours (between 7pm and 9am[2]. That’s 14 hours you’ll get lower prices than our Standard Variable tariff.

The Solar Saver tariff offers a lower rate of 20p per kWh for using import electricity between 7pm and 9pm[2], every day. The lower rate allows you to save money on each kWh consumed during this period compared to your standard tariff rate. The price of the energy we supply you is fixed, protecting you from any increase in wholesale energy costs. The tariff also includes variable costs which are linked to external industry costs that can go up or down each quarter during the term of your tariff. Find out more about the variable costs here.

Our tariff is designed for ScottishPower customers who have a Solar PV – of any make or model – and the energy you use in the discount period includes all household usage . You must have a single rate communicating smart meter that sends half-hourly readings and pay by monthly Direct Debit.

Yes, the tariff relies on data provided by communicating smart meters throughout the day to ensure your bill is accurate. If you don’t already have one, you can book a smart meter installation here.

If you’re moving home, you won’t be able to directly transfer this tariff to your new home. However, let us know when you are moving, and we’ll look at what similar tariffs are available at the time.

The purpose of the tariff is to encourage households to consume as much of their self-generated solar energy throughout the day as possible – due to this, the price of any additional energy you buy from us during peak hours of X and Ypm is at a higher rate and the off peak hours of X and Ypm will be at a lower rate. By providing a cheaper rate at off-peak times, the tariff encourages households to consume as much of their self-generated solar energy throughout the day as possible, especially during peak hours.
