What is My Energy Tracker?
My Energy Tracker means you’re never in the dark about your account balance. It helps you understand how much energy you’re using and how the cost compares with what we’ve estimated – helping to give you more control and fewer surprises.
A clear graph shows the actual cost of the energy you’ve used so far alongside your estimated costs, so you can see at a glance if your payments are on track. If needed, My Energy Tracker will also suggest how to get your account back on track, like reviewing your payments to avoid building up debt.
Who can use My Energy Tracker?
Right now, My Energy Tracker is only available for customers with smart meters paying monthly by Direct Debit. You can find My Energy Tracker in the ScottishPower App or under ‘Your energy’ in your online account.
What’s the difference between actual cost and estimated cost?
My Energy Tracker tracks the actual cost and the estimated cost of your energy.
• The actual cost shows how much the energy you’ve used has cost, using the meter readings from your latest bill.
• The estimated cost shows how much energy we’re expecting you to use over the next 12 months, based on your past energy use and your tariff prices. We refresh this estimate whenever your tariff or monthly payment amount changes.
If you’re new to ScottishPower and we don’t have up-to-date meter readings covering the past 12 months, we’ll base your estimated cost on the best available information we have for you and your home, taking account of any actual meter readings that we do have.
What do the My Energy Tracker status updates mean?
On My Energy Tracker, you’ll see one of the following messages:
• Everything looks good: your energy costs, account balance, and monthly payments are in good shape.
If you have extra credit in your account, we’ll give you the option to request a refund.
• Attention needed: your energy costs are higher than we estimated. Review your payments now to keep your account on track.
That might mean changing your Direct Debit or making a one-off payment towards your account balance or looking at ways to reduce the amount of energy you’re using. If you’re using My Energy Tracker in the ScottishPower App, we’ll send you a notification if your costs are looking higher than we estimated, so you’re never caught out by a payment increase.
• New energy forecast coming soon
You’ll see this message if you’ve only recently joined us and we’re still waiting for information about the amount of energy you’re likely to use in your home. Check back later to see the comparison between your estimated and actual energy costs.
• Meter readings needed
You’ll see this message if we don’t have enough meter readings to show you how your estimated energy costs compare with your actual costs.
By giving you clear, up-to-date information based on your actual and estimated costs, we’ll help you understand what steps you need to take to keep your account on track.
