How do cancellations work at ScottishPower?

We want you to feel happy and confident in your decision to join us. We understand that people change their mind, and you may want to cancel soon after joining us.

Cancellations for Gas and/or Electric Sales

For new customers your cooling off period ends 14 days from the day after you signed up to join us. If you joined us on a Wednesday your 14 days would start from the Thursday.

For existing customers your cooling off period runs for 14 days from the day after you confirmed your selection of a new tariff.

How do I cancel at ScottishPower? You can cancel within your 14 day cooling off period by doing one of the below:

  • Complete the cancellation form and return it to us at the address provided on the form
  • Phone us on 0800 400 200. From Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
  • Or by completing the paper version of the cancellation form in your welcome pack and returning it to us at the address provided

What happens next?

If you’ve decided to cancel before your supply starts with ScottishPower then you don’t need to do anything, you’ll stay with your current supplier. If you cancel within your cooling off period and your supply has already moved to ScottishPower you need to let us know and then take one of the following actions.

You can choose to:

  • stay with us and change your tariff to one that suits you better
  • contact your previous supplier and ask them to take you back
  • or switch to a new supplier.

You will have to pay for any gas and electricity you use during your time with us.
