What goalkeepers can teach us about using energy smarter at home
Soft hands in goalkeeping is all about control. Instead of pushing the ball away, a goalkeeper absorbs the force, working with the momentum to save it.
Using energy can feel similar. Rather than the pressure of changing your entire routine, you can simply shift some of your energy consuming tasks into set Power Saver windows.
With our World Cup Bonus Hours, you don’t need to leave saving to the goalkeepers. Small shifts can lead to your own epic saves this summer.

Electricity used will be charged at your normal unit rate, and you will later have your bill, or meter if you are a PAYG customer, credited for the energy used during bonus hours. Credit is calculated at 50% (excluding VAT) and appears as ‘Power Saver Credit’ on your bill or statement. Your daily standing charge will be charged at your normal rate. Eligibility criteria, exclusions, and T&Cs apply. For each hour there is an electricity consumption limit of 2kWh, meaning you’ll receive credit for any electricity used up to this limit. Any electricity consumption that goes over this limit will be charged at your usual agreed electricity rate.
