What is an exit fee?
If you’re on a fixed tariff, and you switch to another energy supplier more than 7 weeks before your tariff end date, you’ll need to pay a fee of £50 per fuel for leaving the tariff early. This is called an ‘exit fee’. The end date for your fixed tariff can be found on your previous bill under your electricity/gas supply details.
If you decide to switch to another ScottishPower tariff, or if you move to a new home and take us with you as your energy supplier, you won’t pay any exit fees.
We’ll send you an email or letter in advance to let you know your fixed tariff is ending. If you choose to switch energy supplier after this point, you won’t be charged exit fees.
If you’ve been charged an exit fee
If you’ve switched energy supplier more than 6 weeks before your tariff end date, we’ll send you your final bill including your exit fees within 6 weeks of your start date with your new supplier. Once you’ve paid any outstanding balance on your account, we’ll close your account.
If you think you’ve been charged an exit fee by mistake, get in touch and we’ll look into it for you.
